CLUB HISTORY
Coseley Town Ladies were formerly known as Sedgley White Lions Ladies.
Sedgley White Lions were formed at the start of the 01/02 season, and
became part of an already established club. After two seasons with
Sedgley White Lions, the team made a decision to leave Sedgley and
became part of the new club, Coseley Town. Throughout the first three
seasons our form has remained fairly consistent, and although we always
have good players we struggle to find the right formula on the pitch,
finishing all three seasons in the lower half of the division. However,
events on the pitch always seem to be overshadowed by events off it.
With a steady succession of management team, trainers, players, it is
only recently that we feel we have found the right combination so that
the team can be run as it should be, enabling us to move forward.
Right from day one there has been one figure that has guided us and provided
unceasing support. Dave Ferguson helped to set up the team when it first began
and has watched over us ever since. He helped with training, took us to matches,
was linesman, ref, but usually not all at once, shouted at us at half time when we
needed it, and provided a wealth of advise to all of the management team.
Sadly Dave Ferguson lost his battle with cancer recently and although there are
not many players that have been with this team since the start, we all feel aterrible sense of loss. We have lost someone who contributed so much to our team but we have also lost a friend. Dave Ferguson will never be forgotten and will always be sadly missed. We hope to go on, be the team that he constantly encouraged us to be and make him proud of us.
